I apologize for the lack of blogging. It has been a great fall, but so incredibly busy. Part of this has to do with a trip Joel and took to Italy at the end of September. We had an amazing time exploring Florence, hiking the Cinque Terre, and getting lost in Venice.
I'm hoping to catch up a bit on here, so I will start with Florence. I was absolutely shocked at how quickly I fell head over heels in love with this city. I am not a huge city loving gal, but this city was unlike anything I had ever experienced. The architecture, the cathedrals, the people, the langauge, the shopping, the entire culture of this city filled me with such an incredible feeling that is so hard to put into words. I felt so close to God while walking the cobblestone streets and sitting in age old pews surrounded by candles and images of Jesus. The sense of peace was overwhelming and a life changing experience.
I quickly learned that I am not a landscape photographer. I stuggled a lot with trying to capture the vistas that were laid out before me. I finally realized that I needed to stop. I needed to let go of trying to capture the perfect image and just breathe in the beauty of this culture. For me, it was so much more about the feelings and emotions I felt during our days there, and trying to freeze these moments were impossible.
So, with that being said, here are a few images from our time in Florence.
